The Brisbane City Council is supporting a project at Archerfield Airport which will cater for businesses such as aeronautical parts storage and manufacturing, warehousing and logistics.

Marketing for TRANSITION Archerfield Logistics Estate, a 24ha ‘green’ masterplanned estate in Brisbane's much sought-after Acacia Ridge/Archerfield area, stepped up a notch this week with the launch of a dedicated website.

The website (www.transitionestate.com.au) provides masterplan details and leasing information about the estate, now undergoing initial infrastructure works, at the northwest end of Archerfield Airport fronting Boundary Road.

The area being developed, formerly an under-utilised part of the airport, has been earmarked for future aviation and non-aviation development on General Industry-zoned land for a number of years.

Brisbane City Council has identified Archerfield as a strategically important area for future industry, owing to its location within the South West Industrial Gateway and its proximity to the nearby Intermodal Rail Freight Terminal at Acacia Ridge.

Scarcity of available land within this area in recent years has forced local businesses to relocate away from the region to other suburbs further from the CBD such as Larapinta and Yatala.

Archerfield Airport General Manager, Corrie Metz, said the new estate offered an extremely rare opportunity for local businesses looking to expand or upgrade, or businesses wishing to relocate to high quality, purpose-built premises in the city’s traditional industrial heartland.

“TRANSITION is expected to create up to 1000 local employment opportunities in addition to some 735 roles during construction,” Metz said.

“Cashflow from tenants within the estate will underwrite much-needed renewal and development of aviation facilities on the airport itself.

“Archerfield Airport Corporation is working with Brisbane City Council to improve the surrounding roads.”
