Recreational Aviation Australia (RA-Aus) has said it is pleased with the way CASA is consulting over the Jabiru restrictions.

In a statement send to members yesterday, RA-Aus said they were watching closely the process CASA used to implement the restrictions.

"While in the past we haven’t been entirely happy with these processes we can say that we are pleased with the level of consultation being undertaken while CASA reviews the status of this instrument," the statement says.

"There are some areas where we are pushing for some relaxation and others where we are satisfied that the regulator is providing more clarity for owners and operators such that they can overcome the current limitations.

"At this stage the discussions are centred around Jabiru providing engineering solutions and sufficient assurances to CASA that these remedies are effective. We look forward to communicating these to members once we have more detail."

CASA recently extended the restrictions on Jabiru-powered aeroplanes, which were to have expired on 30 June 2015.
