The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the Bendix King KLR 10 for use in certified aircraft.

The KLR 10 increases pilot awareness of remaining lift during phases of flight with high angles of attack such as take-off, approach and landing, which account for the majority of preventable loss-of-control accidents.

Kevin Gould, President of BendixKing, stated “We have been working closely with GAMA and the FAA to bring this important safety technology to market, and so this represents a very positive development for GA pilots and our industry.

"Following the required ASTM F3011-13 specification, which forms the basis of the FAA approval, we developed the KLR 10 so that pilots can now have full-time, intuitive awareness of remaining lift, and get very compelling, easy-to-interpret alerts when the wing approaches its critical angle of attack.”

Also known as an angle-of-attack indicator, the KLR 10 shows a visual representation of the gap between the current lift from the wing and the an impending stall.

Bendix King Australia has indicated in the recent past that they will be pursuing CASA certification on the back of the FAA approval.
