Australian teenager Ryan Campbell has been forced to alter his route around the world as a consequence of the riots in Egypt.

Instead of his planned stopover in Aswan, Campbell's next leg will take him to Aqaba in Jordan from Rhodes in Greece.

"Many people have been asking about my intended flight into Aswan, Egypt that was planned for late this coming week," Campbell said. "Working with Mike Gray and White Rose Aviation along with many of the team we have decided to change the routing to avoid a stopover in Egypt due to the current political situation.

"I will now fly from Rhodes, Greece to Aqaba in Jordan. After a one night stopover I will fly over Saudi Arabia to Muscat, Oman. I plan to continue on with the planned routing and time frame from Muscat onwards.”

Egyptian company General Aviation Support was rueful but understanding of the change that will cut their country out of the record flight, releasing the following statement.

"We are sorry Ryan Campbell didn't get to see Egypt in better times but maybe one day he will fly here again. Best wishes from your friends in Egypt.”

Ryan is expected home in Wollongong on 7 September.
