Cessna has launched a new business jet option, the New Citation Sovereign, at the National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA) convention in Orlando, Florida.

The New Citation Sovereign is based on the old Sovereign model, but has significant upgrades including:

  • New cockpit with Garmin G5000 avionics suite
  • Increased range by 150 nm, boosting the New Citation Sovereign total range to over 3,000 nm
  • Powered by the new Pratt & Whitney PW306D engine
  • New cabin amenities including the integrated Cessna Clarity cabin management system, in addition to improved seat design
  • Improved short runway performance
  • Integrated automatic throttles
  • Winglets, which give the aircraft a distinct appearance and an aerodynamic boost
  • Improved ground cooling performance

Production has already started on the New Citation Sovereign, with the first deliveries expected in the early third quarter of 2013.

*In related news, Cessna has announced that the Citation Ten will revert to the old name Citation X. According to the company, the change was made because customers prefered the new model keep the old name.
