Tecnam yesterday unveiled the next generation of the P2006T twin-engined high-wing at AERO Friedrichshafen.

The new model boasts more than 300 changes to the P2006T MkII airframe to create the P2006T NG.

"Today, with the P2006T NG, Tecnam confirms its position as one of the most innovative aircraft manufacturers in the world," said Tecnam CEO Paolo Pascale Langer. "We certify several new designs each year in order to offer the best possible solutions to our customers."

Re-engined with the fuel-injected Rotax 912 iSc3 motor, Tecnam says the the P2006T NG now offers customers high-altitude efficiency and fuel consumption of 14 lph per engine, compared with the 17 lph for the MkII version. The MTOW has been increased by 60 kg.

Tecnam has also added a second door on the right side of the fuselage to make access easier for the co-pilot, and made both crew doors larger. A dedicated cargo door that provides external access has been included in the P2006T NG.

Upgrades in the cockpit include a central console that houses a FMS GCU477 keyboard to manage the Garmin G1000 NXi avionics and GFC 700 autopilot.

Among other modifications are:

  • improved aerodynamics
  • larger luggage compartment
  • wider cabin
  • integrated Whelan anti-collision lights
  • re-designed centre console that now incorporates the trim wheel
  • alternate air
  • Lemo jack.

Tecnam also announced a super-premium version: the P2006 NG SPORT. This version features an all-Italian design, black leather dashboard with soft LED lights, carbon-look panels, yokes and central console covered in leather. The cabin features Alcantara headliners, plush moquette seats, leather side walls and side panels with carbon-look logos.

Tecnam will launch the P2006T NG firstly to EASA-approved countries, with Spanish school Fly By as the launch customer.
