Sydney Flight College (SFC) at Bankstown Airport today announced a new scholarship program for CPL training at their next intake.

Offered in partnership with 2019 Red Bull Air Race World Champion Matt Hall, the Matt Hall Flight Training Scholarship is for training that commences on 12 July this year.

SFC Chief Marketing Officer and Flight Instructor Matthew Piers explained the aim of the program.

"Matt acts as the ambassador for SFC and in this role aims to inspire young people to consider a career in aviation and encourage good airmanship and a safety culture among SFC’s students and members," he told Australian Flying.

"Recognising the financial burden on students wishing to become commercial pilots, the Matt Hall Flight Training Scholarship will offer the recipient the ability to gain a CPL with no out-of-pocket flight training expenses during the course.

"This presents a unique opportunity for a student who was previously struggling to afford the gap payment for a Commercial Pilot Licence course, i.e., the difference between the course fee and the VET Student Loan course cap.

"In dollar terms, the scholarship is worth $13,512."

SFC is encouraging all interested students to get their applications in as soon as possible as the training starts in less than two months.

Applications can be sent through on the SFC website.
