RotorTech Vertical Flight Exposition will leave the Gold Coast for the Cairns Convention Centre in 2028, with the event running from 9 to 11 May. Organisers say the larger venue will allow the exposition to keep expanding.
The move gives the biennial exposition more room for its exhibition, conference program, aircraft and technology displays, networking functions and workforce engagement.
AMDA Foundation CEO Justin Giddings said the event had grown significantly, with the 2026 exposition recording more than 2400 attendances, 125 exhibiting companies and representation from 21 nations.
"The larger footprint at the Cairns Convention Centre will allow us to accommodate more exhibitors and create room for the event to continue expanding in line with industry demand," he said.
Queensland Assistant Minister for Tourism, Early Learning, Creative Industries and Far North Queensland Bree James said securing the event was a significant win for the region.
"The conference will bring together industry leaders from across Australia and internationally, delivering valuable economic benefits for local businesses while showcasing the region's outstanding visitor experiences, industry capability and event infrastructure," she said.
Cairns Convention Centre General Manager Janet Hamilton said the venue's location would be a drawcard for delegates.
"RotorTech brings the vertical flight community together, and we are looking forward to hosting its exhibition, conferences and networking events in the heart of Cairns, with the city's hotels, restaurants and waterfront just a short walk away," she said.
Exhibition and sponsorship opportunities for RotorTech 2028 will open in 2027, with visitor registrations to follow.
