Garmin has introduced G2000 PRIME, a new premium integrated flight deck for high-performance Class I/II piston and electric aircraft, bringing turbine-class avionics technology to another tier of general aviation.

Building on innovations from the G3000 PRIME flight deck, G2000 PRIME offers sleek, all-touchscreen displays aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency while reducing pilot workload.

Garmin Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Aviation, Phil Straub, said the response to the company's PRIME flight decks had driven the expansion into this aircraft class.

"As pilots and aircraft manufacturers continue to seek more intuitive, capable and connected avionics, G2000 PRIME delivers on that demand with a premium flight deck experience designed to help simplify operations, enhance situational awareness and support advanced safety-enhancing technologies," Straub said.

G2000 PRIME features 14-inch touchscreen primary display units with edge-to-edge, sunlight-readable, fingerprint-resistant glass, with quadruple the memory, and gigabit connectivity up to 100 times faster than earlier systems. Secondary display units offer a 40 per cent increase in screen area over prior Garmin controllers and, in certain aircraft, can double as an integrated standby flight instrument. The new multi-touch interface recognises up to 10 inputs at once, letting pilot and copilot interact with the display simultaneously.

Advanced flight tools include the Modified Flight Plan feature for side-by-side graphical previews of changes, an Emergency Return function for in-flight emergencies shortly after takeoff, and improved Taxiway Routing with automated guidance. Smart checklists link to crew alerting system messages, letting pilots tap an alert to open the relevant checklist.

Safety technologies include Garmin's Autonomí suite, led by Garmin Autoland, which can take full control and land the aircraft in an emergency if the pilot is unable to. Other tools include Smart Glide, Electronic Stability Protection, Emergency Descent Mode and Garmin Autothrottle, alongside terminal safety features such as Runway Occupancy Awareness.

The flight deck supports connectivity including Connext Satellite Services, LTE, SiriusXM, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with Garmin's PlaneSync system automatically updating databases and allowing remote status checks via the Garmin Pilot app.
