After someone accidentally called an Australian plane a "Skyvan" the other week, Australian Flying went on a hunt for the real Skyvan. This is a Shorts SC 7 Skyvan. Designed as a STOL freighter or 19-seat passenger carrier, the Skyvan was in production from 1960 to 1986. In that period only 150 were built, so don't be surprised if you've never seen one before. Powered by two 715 SHP Garrett TPE331 turbo-props, the Skyvan has an MTOW of 5670 kg and a top speed of 175 kt.
