What becomes of the unwanted? When military contracts are let, many designs are submitted, but in the end only one gets chosen. Boeing's YL-15 was one of the unchosen. The contract for a light observation aircraft went to the L-19 Birddog, leaving the YL-15 with no market. This is the story of one aircraft that should never have been, but nonetheless, is still around today.
