Slovenian manufacturer Pipistrel has delivered the 1000th airframe from the Sinus/Virus aircraft family.

The milestone aircraft was a Sinus Max destined for the South American nation of Suriname, and is the first Pipistrel to be delivered into that country.

Coming in Pipistrel's 30th anniversary year, the 1000th milestone meant a lot to General Manager Ivo Boscarol.

"An achievement such as this one–to produce an aircraft No. 1000 from the same product family–is a victory in many ways," he said. "To be in the 'Golden 1000s club' means that the market must accept one’s products and trust them continuously. It means that already when the product is released for the first time, it is good enough to be sold for decades; and to be sold all over the world, in different climates and in different cultures.

“But it is not only good for our customers to have such an aircraft – most of all it is a benefit for us, because it offers long-term sustainability to the manufacturer and it secures stability to the work positions for our employees. I am extremely proud of the company’s collective.

"I would like to congratulate my workers for producing such high-quality aircraft which have been the jewel in the crown of Pipistrel all these years. I would also like to thank all the customers worldwide who believed in our products. Your trust has been our best promotion all these years!”

Pipistrel estimates that with other models produced such as the Taurus, Taurus Electro and SW121, the total number of Pipistrel aircraft produced is now over 2000.

Pipistrel manufacturers aircraft at their production plant in Ajdovščina, Slovenia, and has delivered aircraft into 96 countries around the world.
