Recreational Aviation Australia CEO Michael Linke is among several speakers scheduled for the Safeskies conference in October.

Linke will share the rostrum with Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti, former Boeing commercial aircraft test pilot Dave Carbaugh, helicopter pilot Priya Adhikari from Nepal and Prof Jan Davies from Canada.

"RAAus takes its role in the sector very seriously and as such we are committed to attending forums, seminars and conferences whenever possible to continue to discuss our role," Linke told Australian Flying.

"RAAus plays a leading role in improving safety across the sector. As the entry point for aviation, RAAus is creating aviation careers and opportunities and as such bedding down core safety messages is pivotal in maintaining our very safe sector.

"Our presentations at SafeSkies will focus on the issue of Fitness to Fly. It will combine our recent research and findings with lessons learned and how we can apply these findings to improving safety.

"During SafeSkies our Occurrence Management System (OMS: oms.raa.asn.au) will celebrate two years and we now have a wealth of data that is providing predictive indicators to aid in ongoing safety improvements."

Safeskies is Australia's pre-eminent forum on aviation safety. It's a not-for-profit venture aimed at encouraging civil, military, government, universities and private operators to exchange ideas.

The conference is scheduled for 3-5 October at the National Convention Centre in Canberra. More information is on the Safeskies 2017 website.
