The 2015 Wings Awards for general aviation are now open for nominations.

The award scheme - inaugurated last year - aims to recognise innovation and service within Australia's general aviation community.

Presented by the Australian Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society and Australian Flying, and supported by The Jacobson Flare, the awards have been revamped to include five categories:

  • Aero Club of the Year
  • Flying Training Organisation of the Year
  • Flying Instructor of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement & Service to General Aviation
  • General Aviation Airport of the Year

A panel of three judges will assess each nomination against the criteria for each category.

For the first time, people will be able to nominate on-line via the Australian Flying website.

Nominations close on 30 June and winners published in Australian Flying in November-December 2015.

Last year's winners included Bob Tait, John Macknight, AvPlan, Newcastle Aero Club and Phil Unicomb.
