China Southern Airlines has launched a second recruitment drive to welcome more Australian-based cabin crew onboard its Australian services as cultural ambassadors.

The ongoing recruitment campaign is aimed at incorporating locally-based crew members into all flights from Sydney and ultimately, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth as the airline continues its rapid expansion in Australia.

The second Sydney-based recruitment drive, which follows a successful campaign last November, will be held at a Sydney hotel later this month, with the next round of recruitment scheduled for Melbourne later this year.

Altara Group Managing Director Karon Hughes, who is overseeing the recruitment campaign, said it was a thrill to be working with one of the world’s largest airlines as it developed its inflight service downunder.

“The first group of Sydney-based crew set a high standard of professionalism and we expect nothing less from this second campaign,” Ms Hughes said.

China Southern Australian Cabin Crew Project Manager Jane Cen said the airline was impressed with the high calibre of applicants in the first recruitment drive.

“The first Sydney-based crew have really embraced the Chinese culture during their training in Guangzhou and I know they are thrilled to be the first to fly with China Southern during this exciting time of growth in Australia,” Ms Cen said.

“We can’t wait to welcome another group of Australian inflight ambassadors onboard later this year.”

Successful candidates will get the chance to travel to China Southern’s home port of Guangzhou to become fully-fledged flight attendants, initially working on the Sydney to Guangzhou route.

The first Australian-based crew has been training in Guangzhou ahead of joining China Southern’s inflight service on Airbus A330 flights between Australia and China next month.
