A crowd of over 12,000 people watched the Warbirds Downunder air show at Temora last weekend.

The turn-out has prompted the Temora Aviation Museum (TAM) to rate the show a "major success".

Queues started forming at the entrance gates well before the posted opening time of 8.30 am, and had swelled to in excess of 12,000 shortly after mid-day.

With 35 different models displayed over five hours of flying, the crowds certainly got their money's worth.

Key attractions included the RAAF Hornets and Hawk 127, Mustangs, both Spitfires, Meteor and Sabre, as well as the Roulettes.

After the show, TAM CEO Kenny Love paid tribute to the supporters who made it happen.

“Warbirds Downunder 2013 is the largest event held by the Temora Aviation Museum," he said. An event of this size and significance to the local region would not be possible without the overwhelming support from Temora Shire Council and the local community.

"We had more than 140 volunteers and of course the highly capable Museum staff and I commend everyone involved for their efforts and thank each one for their contribution in putting together a world class event.”

There were over 100 general aviation aircraft in the GA park on the other side of the runway, showing that the event is growing in stature in the aviation community in only it's second show.

Planning for Warbirds Downunder 2015 is already underway with the date to be announced approximately 12 months in advance.
