CASA has declared a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) around Illawarra Regional Airport for Sunday's Boeing 747 flight from Sydney.

Qantas will retire their first Boeing 747-438 VH-OJA to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society, with the aircraft due to land at Albion Park at 0747.

The TRA will be in place from 0730 to 0830 for 8 nm around the airport and up to 4500 feet. It also includes a straight section out to the east over the ocean from central Wollongong, which will cover the aircraft’s approach path.

VH-OJA will fly down the coast between 4000-5000 feet.

Pilots need to check NOTAMs before planning a flight during the TRA times.

Road closures are also expected around the airport and those wanting to watch the arrival should check information on Shellharbour Council's website.
