Tecnam has developed what it calls a "next-generation LSA" to be unveiled at Aero 2013 Friedrichshafen on April 24.

The Astore is a low-wing two-seater that uses Rotax engines and state-of-the-art cockpit technology, expected to deliver low-cost operation and efficiency.

According to Tecnam Managing Director Paolo Pascale, the Astore will be a new addition to the range rather than a replacement aircraft.

“We have built our reputation at Tecnam on producing aeroplanes that offer outstanding value, beauty and efficiency,”  he said. "I am delighted we are able to celebrate Tecnam’s 65th anniversary by introducing the Tecnam Astore as the new addition to our extensive range of aeroplanes that ensure as wide an audience as possible can enjoy the pleasure of flying a Tecnam aeroplane.”

Tecnam’s close association with Rotax continues, with Astore customers being offered a choice of Rotax 912ULS, the new 912iS or 914 engine.

The Astore will come standard with innovations such as an Apple iPad® mini. The Levil G Mini, using its WiFi connection, provides a full Primary Flight Display on the iPad® mini using compatible third party applications such as Air Navigation Pro or similar.

Additionally, the pre-installed dedicated app will compute the actual weight and balance, provide checklists and include all the Pilot Operating Handbook sections.

Inside, the Astore includes a new ergonomically designed interior with enhanced all-around visibility, controls and switches that can be easily reached and the use of softer materials for comfort.

Little else is known about the performance or weights, as Tecnam is keeping a tight lid on their new creation until Aero 2013 starts next month.
