General aviation has its latest four-seat aircraft with EASA certifying the Tecnam P2010.

Tecnam announced news of the certification and the start of deliveries to the first customers at Oshkosh yesterday.

The certification program included over 200 hours of test flights, more than 100 spin configurations and lightning tests on full-scale assemblies.

For Professor Luigi Pascale, who founded Tecnam in 1948 with his brother Giovanni, it was the end of a long development program.

"Finally, today we are happy to have completed all the extensive certification tests with EASA," he said.

The P2010 is an advanced high-wing single engine aircraft constructed of carbon fibre and traditional materials.

The wide cabin allows for a large instrument panel with three avionics options: analogue IFR, a Garmin G500 IFR or twin-screen Garmin G1000 IFR with integrated GFC700 autopilot.

Powered by a Lycoming IO-360 developing 180 HP at 2700 RPM, the P2010 will have a useful load of 450 kg, and a maximum speed of 140 knots. The 75% cruise is 133 KTAS at 6500 feet.
