Avplan, the flight planning and tracking application designed in Australia, was introduced to the US market this month at Lakeland Florida.

Avsoft, the company that produces the software, presented Avplan to hundreds of pilots at the 39th annual Sun 'n Fun Fly-in and expo.

Avsoft's Managing Director Bevan Anderson thought the trip to the US was well worth it.

"Sun 'n Fun was fantastic," he said. "We spent the week demoing the product to a huge range of pilots. Our target market in the US is people flying high performance aircraft - Bonanza's, Cirruses and above - and there is definite need there for our product.

"These pilots were impressed with what we have done, so we're excited to see what happens when we release the product in the coming weeks."

Sun 'n Fun ran from April 9-14 and organisers have estimated an increase in attendance of 5-7% over 2012, despite missing their traditional drawcards, the USAF Thunderbirds and the USN Blue Angels jet aerobatic teams.
