Schofields Flying Club to host RFACA conference & ALACs

Schofields Flying Club has this year been chosen to host the jointly run Royal Federation of Aero Clubs of Australia annual conference and the Australian Light Aircraft Championships.

The RFACA annual conference and the ALACs are held every year in the same week at the same venue. Bankstown Airport-based Schofields Flying Club will host this year’s staging of the events, with the conference to be held at the Bankstown Sports Club from Monday April 16 to Tuesday April 17 and the ALACs from Thursday April 19 to Saturday April 21.

“Not only is this likely to be a lot of fun, it will be somewhat unique in that the Federation rarely make use of capital city clubs,” ALAC Program Director Mike Allsop said in an email to Schofields Flying Club members.

Because YSBK presents logistical constraints on ALAC flying activity, Schofields Flying Club has agreed to make use of Maitland Aerodrome (YMND) and the facilities of the Royal Newcastle Aero Club for the three days the ALACs are staged.
