A record number of competitors contested the Australian Light Aircraft Championships (ALACs) at Latrobe Regional Airport last week.

Seventy pilots competed in five flying disciplines over four days, with the Wednesday reserved for an international challenged between Australia and New Zealand.

The ALACs were organised by the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs Australia (RFACA) and hosted by Latrobe Valley Aero Club, and featured teams from eight aero clubs around Australia, plus the NZ contingent. The NZ pilots competed in the general competition and topped the score sheets on occasions, but were inelligible to win.

International Challenge: Aus 380.66 point; NZ 377.16

Spot Landing: 1st Place - Joelene Buntain RVAC

Forced Landing: 1st Place - Ray Hand Schofields

Formation: 1st Place - Robert Bright, Paul Canavan, Heinz Dehn RVAC

Streamer Cut: 1st Place - Peter Fenton ACST

Aerobatics Graduate Class: 1st Place - Greg Doran RNAC

Aerobatics Sportsman Class: 1st Place - Andrew Eldridge RACWA

Overall Champion 2013: Andrew Eldridge RACWA

Federation Team Trophy: Andrew Eldridge, Rod Garnaut, Jim Di Menna RACWA Team 1
