A record number of competitors contested the Australian Light Aircraft Championships (ALACs) at Latrobe Regional Airport last week.
Seventy pilots competed in five flying disciplines over four days, with the Wednesday reserved for an international challenged between Australia and New Zealand.
The ALACs were organised by the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs Australia (RFACA) and hosted by Latrobe Valley Aero Club, and featured teams from eight aero clubs around Australia, plus the NZ contingent. The NZ pilots competed in the general competition and topped the score sheets on occasions, but were inelligible to win.
