Lockheed-Martin F-22 Raptors will return to the flying schedule for the Australian International Airshow in February.
Avalon 2015 organisers announced this morning that two aircraft and support crews will come from Langley, Virginia, to take part in the flying displays.
As the US Air Force's premier air superiority fighter, the F-22 has stealth characteristics and can deliver an array of weapons including missiles, guided bombs and cannon fire.
Powered by two Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines delivering a combined 30,000 lb of thrust, the Raptor can supercruise at nearly twice the speed of sound without even going to afterburners.
Each aircraft is estimated to cost $US400 million.
The Raptors will also accessible for ground inspection at the air show.
Avalon 2015 will be staged at Avalon Airport 24 February to 1 March. The event is open to the public from the afternoon of Friday 27 February and all day Saturday and Sunday.
