The Director of Aviation Safety at Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority,
Mark Skidmore AM, is now a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society,
following a formal presentation at last week’s Safeskies conference in
Canberra.
AVM (Rtd) Skidmore was presented with his Fellowship certificate by the
President of the Australian Division of the RAeS, John Vincent, in front of
several hundred assembled Safeskies delegates.
Safeskies is an Australian biennial conference focused on aviation safety
across the spectrum of civil and military operations. It has a high and
respected profile on the global aviation stage, largely because of the calibre
of the participants from the government, regulators, military, industry and
academia; but also because of the extraordinary networking opportunities it
provides.
Mr Vincent said that RAeS Fellowship is the highest grade attainable and is
only bestowed upon those who meet the highest level of requirements,
demonstrating that they have made outstanding contributions; have attained
a position of high responsibility in an influential role; or have had long
experience of high quality in the profession of aeronautics or aerospace. Mr
Vincent said that Mark Skidmore readily met these requirements and that it
was a great pleasure to welcome him to the Society.
