The Royal Australian Air Force has thrown its weight behind the 2015 Warbirds Downunder airshow, confirming 17 aircraft will attend in static and flying displays or as visiting flypasts.
Staged by the Temora Aviation Museum, Warbirds Downunder 2015 is a two day event scheduled for Friday evening November 20 and Saturday November 21 on the Temora NSW Aerodrome, about 400km south west of Sydney.
It will feature a wide variety of antique and ex-military aircraft from around Australia. Participating aircraft include WWII Spitfires, P-40 Kittyhawks, CAC Boomerang and Lockheed Hudson plus Meteor and CAC Sabre and a range of vintage trainers and antique aircraft.
But the RAAF will also add 17 serving and historic aircraft, from a tethered hot air balloon to CT-4 and Winjeel trainers, the Roulettes PC-9 aerobatic team, F/A-18A Hornets on both static and air display and flypasts by the C-17 Globemaster transport and the new Boeing B737 based E7 Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft.
“We have a great working relationship with the RAAF Museum and RAAF,” said Temora Aviation Museum President and Founder Mr David Lowy AM. “There is a great deal of goodwill between the personnel and significant benefits for both organisations.”
