The New Zealand Herald is reporting the financial failure of the inaugural NZ International Airshow.
Held at North Shore Airfield 26-28 January, the show was part of the Auckland Anniversary celebrations, and there was hope that it would become a regular event. Instead, the organising company Airshow Systems has been placed into liquidation less than two weeks after the show finished.
According to the New Zealand Herald, one of the major issues was a lack of parking at the airfield. Customers were obliged to use one of three park-and-ride areas and catch a shuttle bus to the airport, the cost of which inflated the ticket prices.
North Shore Aero Club is reportedly out of pocket thousands of dollars for the hire of the property, six aircraft and fuel.
Featured at the show were jetman Yves Rossy, US aerobatic star Melissa Pemberton, Aussies Paul Andronicou and Paul Bennett and the RNZAF B757.
