The Airline Academy of Australia (AAA) has launched a new high-performance training division at Archerfield Airport.
Intended to help commercial prop and turbo-prop pilots make the transition to ATPL jet pilots, the centre will feature a Pacific Simulators PS3.5 synthetic trainer based on the B737-800 including high-definition wrap-around visuals.
AAA’s CEO Allan Brooks considered several simulator manufacturers before selecting Pacific Simulators, the manufacturer of the PS3.5.
“We decided that what we required was a top quality device, great reliability, strong after sales service and support, and all at a reasonable price," he explained. "Whilst some manufacturers were able to meet some of our demands, only Pacsim met the exact criteria we were looking for."
AAA's PS3.5 is configured with full upgrade options which include engine and cargo fire protection systems, pressurisation and pneumatic systems including oxygen masks, stick shakers, and Boeing-style clocks. The PS3.5 is designed for jet entry training including jet orientation, MPL and Instrument Training. CASA has certified it as a Cat B synthetic trainer in accordance with FSD-2 regulations.
The high performance centre will offer training in three broad areas: professional, career preparation and generic jet training, as well as a vast array of ground school covering most aspects needed to turn a well-trained charter pilot into a well-prepared airline candidate.
The Airline Academy of Australia was established in 2005 by the Royal Queensland Aero Club (RQAC) after identifying a gap in the professional pilot training arena. AAA is located at Archerfield and has close ties with one of Queensland’s leading universities.
