Australian Matt Hall has finished seventh in the second round of the Red Bull Air Race at Rovinj, Croatia, after again hitting a pylon.

Hall was out of the final in round one in Abu Dhabi after striking a pylon in the final.

"We all knew it was going to be a difficult track if the wind came up, which is exactly what happened. It made the racetrack very difficult to fly," Hall said after the race.

"[the pylon hit] was my error, there's no doubt about that.

"Today just wasn't my day.

"I flew well in the Top 12 round and was on track for a good time in the Super 8 but it wasn't to be. Conditions were difficult and we will look at the video and the data and make adjustments before the next round in Malaysia."

Halls weekend was also dogged with a two-second penalty for an incorrect flight level that saw him go head-to-head with good mate Matthias Dolderer for the last position in the round of eight.

Dolderer scored his own pylon-strike, which advanced Hall to the last eight.

Hannes Arch won the final from Paul Bonhomme and Japanese surprise packet Yoshi Muroya beating Pete McLeod to the last spot on the podium.

Arch and Bonhomme now lead the series on 21 points, with Pete McLeod third on 12 and Hall and Muroya equal fourth with seven points each.

The series now advances to Putrajaya, Malaysia on 17-18 May.
