Team New Zealand took a well-deserved win in the Wings 2014 challenge at the Australian Light Aircraft Championships (ALACs).
The competition between the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs Australia and the Royal New Zealand Aero Club was fought out at Tooradin Airport in Victoria over 9-12 April.
Led by Tauranga Aero Club, Team NZ won the Forced Landing, Spot Landing and Formation disciplines, with the aerobatic event being canceled due to a low cloud base.
In the Federation team competition, Aero Club of Southern Tasmania (ACST) scooped the pool taking both first and third places, split only by Royal Newcastle Aero Club.
The overall champion for 2014 was Royal Aero Club of WA's Rod Garnault who placed first in the streamer cut and second in the forced landing. ACST's Ed Ten Broeke and Peter Fenton came in second and third respectively.
