The WINGS Awards, instigated by the Australian Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) and Australian Flying, have received significant support in the form of three sponsorship deals.
Avionics manufacturer Bendix King, Archerfield flight training company Flight One and Moorabbin-based operator FlyCirrus have all added their weight to the award scheme.
Major sponsor Bendix King was quick to offer their support to the awards.
“BendixKing by Honeywell is an organization of pilots, for pilots. It makes perfect sense that we applaud those who strive for brilliance in the sector we promise to offer the most innovative, intuitive avionics for the 21st century,” said BK's Jim Zanino.
Fellow major sponsor Flight One CEO Lucas Tisdall said the WINGS Awards showed some synergy with their own operation.
“Flight One is proud to support the RAeS/Australian Flying WINGS Awards for 2014,” he remarked. “Recognition of leadership and service is a key plank on which our business is built. It’s only natural for us to want to support these key attributes in the broader General Aviation Community across the nation. Best wishes to all the nominees.”
Supporting sponsor FlyCirrus is an company based at Moorabbin that offers training, hire and support for Cirrus pilots. The company conducts training for the Cirrus Standardised Instructor Program and has two SR22s and an SR20 for hire to qualified pilots.
The RAeS and Australian Flying established the WINGS Awards to recognise the hard work, contribution and innovation made to general aviation in Australia. Five categories are open for public nomination, with a further three to be determined by a panel of experts appointed by the RAeS.
