Honda Aircraft will display an FAA-conforming HondaJet at Oshkosh. It is the first time an example of the light twin jet will be available for public inspection.

The $US4.5 million jet project has been beset by delays since its conveption during the "very light jet" outbreak of the 2000s, but entered final testing phases in May this year.

This public debut is a sign that Honda's development program is nearing an end, with certification planned for the end of 2014.

Honda's twin-engined private jet is distinctive in that it includes an Over-the-Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) system, whereby one GE HF120 turbofan is mounted on a pylon over each wing. This it thought to improve efficiency by lowering drag and using less fuel.

Honda Aircraft Company is one of more than 775 exhibitors participating in EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013, which will be held July 29 – August 4.
