A funding drive has begun to raise money for the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society's DHC-4 Caribou to shown around Australia.

Called Peek-a-Bou, the project is being co-ordinated by Caribou Cargo, and is intended to take the Caribou to Australians who can't get to the HARS home base in Albion Park, NSW.

The first target is to raise $20,000 for the 'Bou to fly to Caboolture, QLD, for the Antique Aircraft Day planned for November 18.

Caribou Cargo has contacted the RAAF 35 Squadron Association, returned servicemen's clubs and other associations to help raise funds.

Ultimately the plan is for the Caribou to do a schedule of four shows per year, but will need a significant injection of funds to so do.

The Royal Australian Air Force operated Caribous for 45 years, including on active service in Vietnam, and in relief and general medium-to-light cargo operations.

Caribou Cargo is a private company that specialises in selling and supporting privately-operated Caribous both with traditional radial engines and the PT-6A turbine conversion.

Donations to the Peek-a-Bou project cane be made at the Caribou Cargo website.
