Six Australians and the Australian Air Force Cadets will be inducted into the Australian Aviation Hall of Fame (AAHOF) at Wagga Wagga in November this year.

The six are:

  • Sir Reginald Ansett, the driving force behind Ansett Airlines
  • Aviatrix Senja Robey, founding member and Past President of the Australian Women Pilots Association, instructor, and inspiration for generations to follow
  • Lieutenant Colonel Horace Brinsmead, AFC, the first controller of Civil Aviation in the history of Australia and negotiated the establishment of the first airmail route between England and Australia
  • Harry Hawker, co-founder of Hawker Aircraft, designer, distinguished airman, test pilot developing spin recovery methods and adventurer
  • Col Pay, pioneer of aerial work, crop dusting and water bombing aircraft in Australia
  • Ingo Renner, four time world and nineteen time Australian National gliding champion

The highly coveted Southern Cross Award, presented for an outstanding contribution to aviation by an organisation, will be awarded in 2014 to the Australian Air Force Cadets, formerly Air Training Corps (RAAF).

AAHOF Chairman, Steve Padgett, on behalf of the Board said “the awards represent those who have not only achieved incredible feats personally but have also made outstanding contributions to the development of aviation and the fabric of Australian life."

The induction ceremony will be held at Charles Sturt University at Wagga Wagga on Saturday 8 November.

Tickets to the gala dinner can be booked through the AAHOF website.
