The Australian Region of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators (GAPAN) has awarded three aviation scholarships to assist the winners to continue their aviation careers.
- QANTAS First Officer Ben Catchlove from South Australia was awarded a joint GAPAN/Griffith University scholarship for a Master of Aviation Management Postgraduate Degree
- Flight Training Adelaide Grade II instructor Tim Bartlett won a joint GAPAN/Assessment Services Limited (ASL) scholarship to cover ATPL theory exams
- Mount Lilydale Mercy College Year 12 student Jasmine Morris received a GAPAN/ASL scholarship to cover the cost of her CPL exams.
GAPAN Australian Region Chairman Sue Ball said the Guild was pleased to help out the three winners.
"It is very satisfying to be able to select worthy recipients of the GAPAN regional scholarships. The joint scholarship with Griffith University is a prestigious and valuable scholarship for Ben. Our joint scholarships with ASL that cover the costs of sitting the pilot theory exams give Tim and Jasmine a helping hand towards their future careers in aviation."
The principal activities of GAPAN are centred on developing action and activities to ensure that aircraft are piloted and navigated safely by aviators who are highly competent, self-reliant, dependable and respected. The Guild supports the education and training of pilots and navigators from the initial training of the young pilot to the specialist training of the highest levels.
