Local Cessna agent Aeromil Pacific has established a flight training academy at Sunshine Coast Airport, Maroochydore. Flight Options will offer the full gamut of General Aviation training from private pilot licence to CPL and corporate aviation.

Ab-initio PPL will be done on C162 Skycatchers and C172s, with the more advanced corporate jet training using a Citation Mustang and Mustang simulator.

Flight Options Managing Director Steve Padgett says the company aims to provide quality flight training and also support for customers buying aircraft from Aeromil.

“Flight training packages will be tailored to meet the requirements of our customers. For example, in the rural sector where aircraft play an important part of business and family life, we have worked with a customer in regional Queensland to find the right aircraft to purchase and put together a pilot training and on-going support program, providing a total flying solution for him”.

The purpose-built school at Sunshine Coast will house Garmin G1000 training equipment and Cat B synthetic trainers. A Level D full-motion flight simulator will be available for corporate jet and Mustang training.

Chief Pilot Phil Laffer said the new school will bring benefits to South-east Queensland.

“Flight Options has made a significant investment in its Flight Training Academy, and we hope, in the future of aviation. As part of the Aeromil Group of companies we are proud to be part of the continued growth of aviation in the region”.

The new academy “… will be working closely with schools, colleges, community groups and the government to develop aviation courses that will advance the economic development of aviation in the region. Flight Options has also received international interest from as far afield as China, broadening the scope for economic development.”
