The European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) has issued a type certificate for the Diamond DA-62.

EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky presented the certificate to Diamond CEO Christian Dries at the AERO 2015 exhibition in Friedrichshafen, Germany, last week.

The DA-62 is a larger version of the popular DA-42 twin, and runs two 180-HP Austro AE330 diesels designed to burn jet fuel. It comes in two types: a five-seater with an MTOW of 2000 kg, and a seven-seater with an MTOW of 2300 kg.

With a wingspan of 14.7 metres and a length of 9.19 metres, the DA-62 is both wider and longer than the DA-42, but it's max speed of 201 KTAS is a significant improvement over the -42's 177 KTAS, thanks largely to an extra 10 HP per engine.

More information on the DA-62 is available from the Hawker Pacific website.
