Diamond Aircraft has signalled their interest in the single-engine turbo-prop (SETP) market by displaying a mock-up of a DA50 turbine at AERO 2013.

The DA50 is a four-seat piston single capable of a 150 kt cruise and is normally powered by an Austro AE300 turbo diesel, but has yet to be certified.

The mock-up at AERO 2013 has a five-blade prop being driven by a 450 SHP AI-450S, built by Ukranian company Motor Sich-Ivchenko.

Most prominently, the nose of the turbo-prop version is much longer to accommodate the exhaust and also because the turbine engine is much lighter than the piston engine, so it needs to be placed further forward.

At this stage the aircraft is being presented as a non-pressurised model only.
