European-based aircraft manufacturer Daher-Socata has appointed Stephane Mayer as its new Chief Executive Officer. Daher-Socata manufactures the popular TBM 850 very fast turboprop aircraft, which is said to be the fastest single engine turboprop in the world today.
In his new role, the 47-year-old Mayer will be tasked with further developing Daher-Socata’s General Aviation investments and future projects.
Previously, Mayer was Chairman and CEO of Eads Socata from 2003 to 2007, before Daher’s acquisition of the company in 2008. Prior to taking up his new role, Mayer was CEO of ATR, European manufacturer of regional turboprop airliners.
In his new position, Mayer will work directly with Daher-Socata Chairman Francois Lepinoy and will also act as a member of Daher’s Executive Committee. Mayer’s pilot qualifications include a current rating on the TBM 850.
In other Daher-Socata news, the company has started the countdown to the 100th anniversary of its predecessor, Aeroplanes Morane-Saulnier. The anniversary will be celebrated at next year’s EAA AirVenture, where Daher-Socata will introduce a special anniversary edition of its TBM 850. Daher will also host a 100th Anniversary fly-in as part of the 2011 edition of the famed airshow.
