Cessna sales have dipped in Q2 2013 according the financial results released by parent company Textron.
Sales revenue for the period April-June this year was down $US203 million, a reflection of a delivery figure of 20 Citation jets compared with 49 for the same period in 2012.
The Wichita manufacturer recorded a loss of $US50 million, a far cry from the $US35 million profit made in Q2 last year.
At the end of the quarter, Cessna's sales backlog was $US1.01 billion, down $US23 million from the first quarter of 2013.
Textron's other aircraft manufacturer, Bell Helicopters, also recorded a poor Q2, with sales down $US31 million compared with the same period last year. Bell's profit also decreased by $US17 million, which is being blamed on an unfavourable mix of deliveries that was slanted toward lower-ticket commercial helicopters.
