Cessna has increased the maximum speed of the new Citation Ten bizjet to 0.935 mach (535 kt), making it the fastest civilian aircraft in the world.
The Citation Ten is an upgraded version of the Citation X, using Rolls-Royce AE3007C2 engines with 7034 lb thrust compared with its predecessor's C1 engines' 6764 lb thrust.
According to Cessna President and CEO Scott Ernest, the need for speed is part of the company's heritage.
"As our founder Clyde Cessna said, 'speed is the only reason for flying,' so at Cessna we design, engineer, manufacture and fly the fastest civil aircraft in the world not for us, but for our customers so they can work faster, more efficiently and get the job done.
"Through innovation, creativity and a desire to exceed our customers' expectations, the Cessna team took the already powerful Citation Ten and made it that much better."
Cessna is supporting the Ten with a new partnership deal with IndyCar racing team Chip Ganassi Racing Teams. The deal will see Cessna have a presence on all four of Ganassi's racing cars.
