CASA has extended the deadline for supplemental inspections to be done on Cessna 200 series aeroplanes used in charter and aerial work.

The deadline, which expired yesterday, has been extended by one month to 31 July 2015.

Cessna 200 series aircraft have been subject to a Supplemental Inspection (SID) to ensure older airframes continue to remain airworthy.

According to the regulator, the extension is to "determine the extent and nature of difficulties being faced by those charter and aerial work operators affected by the mandate."

Operators of affected aircraft have been asked to report:

  • the status of their aircraft in terms of complying with the SID
  • what plans they have to complete the SID
  • reasons why the SID has not been done.

Cessna 200 series operated on private flights and Cessna 100 series aircraft still have until 31 December 2015 to comply with the SID.

More information on the extension and exemptions is on the CASA website.
