CASA has deleted the type ratings of the popular Robinson R22 two-seat and R44 four-seat helicopters, which will now be covered by the single-engine helicopter type rating.

The change comes as a result of a review prompted by industry feedback.

Holders of a single-engine helicopter class rating must complete type-specific training and a flight review in an R22 or R44 before flying operations in either aircraft.

To keep flying either, pilots will need to have completed a single-engine helicopter class rating flight review that was done in either the R22 or R44 within the previous 24 months.

As there are no longer any flight tests for the R22 and R44, flight examiner endorsements for those two will also disappear.
