CASA has issued certification for Cessna's composite, high-speed, single-engined TTx. Cessna's owner, Textron Aviation, made the announcement yesterday.
“With Australia’s active general aviation population, we see great potential for the high performance TTx,” said Doug May, vice president, Piston Aircraft. “Whether it’s being used for personal travel or as an entry level business tool, the speed and precision of the TTx make it a natural fit for a country as large and economically dynamic as Australia.”
The TTx has a high speed cruise of 235 KTAS and features Garmin G2000 avionics in a full touch-screen cockpit. The aircraft has all-composite fuselage and wings, which Cessna claims makes the aircraft lighter, stronger and more durable.
It's design heritage comes from the Cessna Corvalis, which in turn stemmed from the Columbia 400.
