Australian aeromedical charity CareFlight will add to its jet fleet after ordering a Nextant 400XT.

The Nextant 400XT is a refurbished and upgraded Hawker 400XP. CareFlight's aircraft will be based in Darwin.

CareFlight General Manager Paul Smith said the new jet would improve the company's operating capacity.

“The addition of this airplane to our fleet will greatly enhance our capability in the North domestically and internationally into Asia. The increased range of the Nextant, state of the art avionics and competitive operating cost make it a welcome addition to our fleet,” he said.

“We have counted on [Nextant Pacific Managing Director] John Oppenheim’s market knowledge in the past to assist with acquisitions and are pleased to again work with John at Nextant Pacific. We have an ongoing relationship with Nextant Pacific that supports CareFlight’s mission to lead the aeromedical industry.”

“The aeromedical business is a key focus area for Nextant Pacific, so we are delighted that CareFlight have chosen to partner with us for their important work in the Northern Territory,” said Nextant Pacific Managing Director John Oppenheim.

“Nextant 400 Series aircraft combines the door size, speed and range of a mid size jet with the operating costs of a comparable turboprop. It really is an ideal platform for aeromedical work”

Nextant remanufactures Hawker 400XP and King Air C90s to provide high levels of comfort, performance and reliability, at a ticket price half that of comparable aircraft. The 400XTi features Williams FJ44-3AP engines and the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 integrated flight deck.

CareFlight also bought a Nextant 400 in May 2014 for operations in Sydney.
