Ryan Campbell, the NSW pilot who currently holds the record for the youngest solo flight around the world, has made the 2014 Men of Influence List.
The list, compiled by Men's Style magazine, was announced at a function in Sydney on Tuesday night, and includes only men under the age of 45.
Campbell, who flew a Cirrus SR22 around the world at age 19, said he was "excited" about being on a list that also included Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo, Olympic Gold Medalist Matt Belcher, Greater Western Sydney forward Jeremy Cameron and actor Alex Russell.
"To be named a 'Man of Influence' for 2014 was exciting, but to be named due to an achievement within aviation was beyond fantastic," he said.
"There is a need for more young people to not only be involved within aviation but to be out there showing others what is achievable, at what age and solely through courage and commitment, the urge to be in the air!"
Since he returned from his record-breaking trip, Campbell has been writing the story of his flight, due out on 1 August, doing the rounds of the public speaking circuit and touring schools to promote aviation and encourage young people to follow their dreams.
