The consortium that owns the leases for both Bankstown and Camden Airports have put them up for sale.

The current owners, a consortium that includes Mirvac Group, Australian Super and Colonial First State are believed to be expecting a sell price of around $200 million for the holding company, BAC Holdco.

Together, the two airports accounted for 304,000 aircraft movements in the 2013-14 financial year, with an annual income rental reported by the Australian Financial Review to be around $20 million per year.

Under Section 40 of the Airports Act 1996, a Commonwealth-owned airport can be only leased to a company, and the airport-lessee cannot be more than 49% foreign-owned.

A spokesperson for corporate advisory company Grant Samuel told Australian Flying that the sale was not expected to impact the day-to-day running of the airports.
