Jabiru Aircraft is claiming a successful presence at Avalon this year despite the trade days being not as busy as they would have liked.
The Bundaberg company displayed a J230 in the sports aircraft precinct away from the showcase area, but nonethless found themselves busy enough.
"The beginning of the trade week was very quiet, probably due to the unfavourable weather conditions," said Business Manager Sue Wood. "We found ourselves huddled in the aircraft to stay warm and dry.
"Fortunately the Friday, Saturday and Sunday were busy with a constant flow of inquiries. Also, many of the current Jabiru family of owners were there to check out what was new on aircraft being produced now.
"The week wrapped with us feeling that it was worthwhile. There seemed to be more interest than we have seen at any of the air shows we have attended in the last two years. Only time will tell if the interest converts to orders."
A further success for the company came with founder Rod Stiff being awarded the 2013 Lawrence Hargrave Award from the Australian Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Note: in a previous newsletter, Australian Flying indicated that Jabiru did not have a presence at Avalon. As you can see from the above, that statement was an error!
