The Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition (Avalon 2015) will be held from Tuesday February 24 to Sunday March 1 in 2015.

Before finalising the dates, organisers consulted a range of stakeholders to ensure there was no clash with other events on Victoria's events calendar.

Avalon 2015 will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli, and will pay aviation homage to a century of service by Australians in the defence of the Nation.

The 'Spirit of Aviation' will be celebrated with a gathering of aircraft from around the world with invitations to participate being extended to many international military forces, in particular those associated with the Gallipoli landings, UK, India and Japan.

A special invitation has also been extended to the Turkish Air Force to participate at the 2015 Airshow.

Organisers say the event "will provide a fitting memorial to all those who served their respective countries and celebrate the close friendship which now exists between nations," and they hope countries which played a role during the First World War, and in particular the Gallipoli campaign, will participate in the air show's commemoration of the centenary of ANZAC.
