An Australian air show team will perform at the Shenyang International Aviation Expo in China.
The Sky Aces from Paul Bennet Airshows will perform at the expo, which runs from 20-23 August at Faku Caihu Airport.
It is believed to be the first Australian air show team to be contracted to a show in China.
Three aircraft sailed today for Shenyang: a Wolf Pitts for Paul Bennet and two Pitts Specials to be flown by Glenn Graham and Glenn Collins.
All three aircraft had to be disassembled for shipping, and will be re-assembled after they arrive in China on 10 August.
The logistics and international management for the team is being handled by Brumby Aircraft director Paul Goard, who has described the operation as a "logistical battle" given that the military handles the customs service in China.
And this could be just the beginning. According to Goard, the team could fly at up to six air shows in China per year, prompting Bennet to order another Wolf Pitts to cope with the work load.
That international work load will continue after Shenyang, as the team is committed to an air show in Port Moresby, featuring the Pitts and a selection of Bennet's warbird collection.
Paul Bennet already has a calendar loaded with air show dates in Australia, which included the Australian International Airshow at Avalon this year, and has been a valuable support of Ausfly at Narromine.
Paul Bennet is the subject of a profile feature to appear in the September-October print issue of Australian Flying.
