The inaugural Women in Aviation/Aerospace Australia National Summit, in Melbourne on 18 November 2013, will bring together a broad cross-section of aviation and aerospace industry professionals to discuss the issues affecting gender diversity in the sector and to begin the process of mapping a way forward to address these issues.
As a core activity of the Women in Aviation/Aerospace Australia initiative, the Summit will discuss specific issues around the challenges faced by both individuals pursuing career progression in the sector, and organisations in attracting and retaining women in the aviation and aerospace workforce. Following the theme of Blue Sky/Glass Ceiling?, presentations will cover topics including:
- current female workforce numbers
- where we’ve come from – an historical perspective
- current research into gender diversity; the importance of positive role models
- the role of industry & government in changing the status quo
- what other sectors are doing; developing a national schools campaign
- successful advertising strategies to attract women into the workforce
- future challenges presented by the forecast growth of the sector in Australia and Asia
These presentations will feature speakers from Virgin Australia, Boeing, Thales, the RAAF, RMITUniversity, PwC, International guests, leading PR agencies and many more.
The Summit is open to industry executives interested in contributing to the discussion around promoting gender diversity and the participation of women within the aviation and aerospace sectors.
